About Ethos
Ethos – the fundamental character or spirit of a culture; the underlying sentiment that informs the beliefs, customs, or practices of a group or society; dominant assumptions of a people or period
In Hebrews 10:25, Paul tells us this: “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as your see the day approaching.”
With Ethos, we are going to establish a new habit (a new ethos) which doesn’t look like the world’s way of doing things. We are going to be different. We are going to create our own culture! You see, as we grow together, we will develop something unique and something that is Christ-centered in the process!
We have a tag line that goes with Ethos. It’s Christ. Community. Culture.
Christ: It is through this-Ethos-that we pray that you will come and meet with Christ. It is our job to help you with that! Whether it is through teaching, prayer, worship, or even silence. Christ said that if we do not cry out to him in worship, the rocks on this earth will do it instead. He didn’t choose the VIP’s of the world when he picked his disciples! He picked nobodies. Average Joe’s. Our goal is for Ethos to be a place where you meet with Christ and become that everyday average disciple.
Community: We are called to go to Judea, Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth. As we start this ministry, not only do we want to see your lives grow in Christ, we would love to see you effect your Judea! Weather it is handing out water bottles at a 5 mile run, picking up trash on the side of the road, or even if it is just inviting a friend to Ethos! God has called us to make an impact on our world! It’s our parents’ culture in the Church to be a pew-sitter. Another way to put that is someone who is two-faced! But God calls us to be people of Action! Let’s start our Ethos with action and change this town! Let’s change South Jersey! Let’s change the tri-state area! This is REAL Community!
Culture: We live in a culture that is lost and dying! Only 3% of our generation knows Christ! What will life be like when the next generation takes over? Are you ready for a Godless society? Neither are we. That’s why we are here!
